Google Autumn Core Update

The big exciting news in search right now isn’t the antitrust suit (unless you’re me), but the Autumn Core Update. Google periodically updates its core algorithms and everyone in SEO watches closely to see what happens. 

The update will roll out over the next few weeks, and actually looks to benefit small businesses and creators. Google’s updates recently have focused on quality content, and their narrative on this one specifically mentions giving greater favour to content from “small and independent” publishers.

What that could mean in the real world is that your really useful and insightful content on the best mattress for back pain or how to prevent tooth decay will be able to play in the same league as the big boys, despite them paying five figures a month for backlinks.

I have a dream that one day websites will be judged not on the cost of their links, but on the quality of their content.
